ORLANDO, Fla. – A four-year-old girl drowned in a pirate-themed pool while on vacation with her family at a popular resort hotel in Florida, WOFL reported Tuesday.
The child jumped into the Pirate's Plunge swimming pool at the Lake Buena Vista Resort and Spa, in Orlando, at around 9:00 p.m. local time Monday, and moments later she was unconscious, Orange County Sheriff's Office investigators told the TV station.
The little girl had been in and out of the pool all evening, but just as her family members were getting ready to return to their room, she went back into the water.
Just a minute later, she was found by her father, face down in three feet of water.
She was pulled out of the water and taken to the nearby Celebration Hospital, but medical staff were unable to revive her.
Her father and several hotel guests were questioned by police, but sheriff's deputies later said there was no evidence of foul play.
Police are awaiting a medical examiner's autopsy report to determine the cause of the girl's death.
