Ohio man kills wife for refusing to get out of bed to buy car May 21st 2012, 20:27 GAHANNA, Ohio –  An Ohio man was ordered held on $750,000 bond Monday after confessing that he shot and killed his wife of 34 years when she refused to get out of bed to buy a car with him. Thomas E. Edwards told police that he shot his wife Teresa in the head four times Sunday because she would not get out of bed and accompany him to a car dealer, The Columbus Dispatch reported. He said "there was a chance" he would not have shot her if "when she saw the gun, she immediately got out of bed and started getting ready," a police report said. After the shooting, Edwards, 60, called his sister and told her he had killed his wife. He reportedly confessed to the crime when a police dispatcher called his home in Gahanna, just northeast of Columbus. Edwards told investigators that he and his wife, who was also 60, had argued for a week over buying a new car. He faces a charge of aggravated murder. Edwards was previously arrested in 2001 and 2005 for domestic violence incidents. In 2001, police said, he threatened his wife with a gun while drunk.
